Kurt Sassmannshaus es titular de la cátedra Dorothy Richard Starling de Violín en el Conservatorio de la Universidad de Cincinnati (EEUU). Sus alumnos actúan como solistas, son profesores en importantes conservatorios (Hanns Eisler de Berlín, Peabody, Conservatorio Central de Pekín) y concertinos de grandes orquestas internacionales (Berlín, Philadelphia, Cleveland y muchas otras). Sassmannshaus fundó
el Starling Preparatory String Project en 1987 en Cincinnati como lugar de
formación para jóvenes talentos excepcionales de los Estados Unidos y del
extranjero. Este programa también atiende a alumnos de otros países mediante
clases por internet.

Sassmannshaus fundó la Great Wall International Music Academy de Pekín, un

Sassmannshaus es un músico de cámara apasionado y es fundador del Sassmannshaus
Piano Trio, junto al pianista Rohan de Silva y su hijo Christoph Sassmannshaus.
La reciente aparición del trío en el Centro Nacional de las Artes Escénicas de
Pekín fue descrita como una “impresionante interpretación” por la revista Strad

Sus

College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). His students perform as soloists, hold
appointments at major conservatories (Berlin’s Eisler School, Universität der Künste,
Peabody, Beijing Central Conservatory) and are leaders in major orchestras
around the world (Berlin, Philadelphia, Cleveland and many others). They have
won prizes in major competitions, including the Tchaikovsky Competition in
Moscow, Naumburg in New York, and the China National Competition.
Sassmannshaus founded the Starling Preparatory String
Project in 1987 in Cincinnati as a training ground for exceptional young string

In the summer of 2005, Sassmannshaus founded the Great
Wall International Music Academy in Beijing, an annual summer festival for
young string soloists. An international faculty including the American String
Quartet and prominent teachers from major Chinese, European and American
Schools teach sixty young artists from around the world.
His pioneering violin teaching website www.violinmasterclass.com was published in 2004. In the ten years since the
launch, the site has given millions of students, parents, and teachers access
to sophisticated knowledge about violin technique, practice methods, and
performance. This knowledge was previously only available to the select few who
had access to the world’s best violin studios.
He expands the pedagogic material available to young
students through Bärenreiter’s
Sassmannshaus Tradition, continuing the work started by his father Egon
Sassmannshaus.
Kurt Sassmannshaus is an avid chamber musician and a
founding member of the Sassmannshaus Piano Trio, together with the pianist
Rohan DeSilva and his son Christoph Sassmannshaus. The trio’s recent appearance
at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing was described as a
“stunning performance” by London’s Strad Magazine.
